AACC SRD

Why?

Due to the vast geographical distances of the Asian continent as well as the diversity in legal and constitutional culture, it is important for AACC SRD to find a way to closely collaborate and receive input from AACC members. The secondment program therefore offers a unique opportunity for AACC SRD and members of the AACC to closely work together on a daily basis. The duration of secondment is in principle a minimum of 6 months, with the possibility of extensions.

What?

Seconded officers form part of the core of the AACC SRD research team and are directly involved in the research projects of AACC SRD.

At AACC SRD, seconded officers are individually paired up with a Rapporteur Judge of the Constitutional Court of Korea. On a monthly basis, the seconded officers, the Rapporteur Judges and research staff of AACC SRD together conduct a workshop to discuss progress of the research papers of the seconded officers and any other relevant research projects. The research projects of seconded officers are to investigate issues of constitutional law in comparative perspective, drawing on the experience of the seconded officer’s home institution and the experiences of other AACC members.

As of the first quarter of 2020, two seconded officers have completed their secondment, and two more have either joined or are in the process of joining AACC SRD. Since the launch of the secondment program in 2017, seconded officers at AACC SRD have come from the Constitutional Court of Indonesia, the Constitutional Court of Mongolia, and the Constitutional Tribunal of Myanmar. AACC SRD looks forward to welcoming seconded officers from all AACC members.

How?
