President Yoo Visits Mongolia for the 5th Congress of AACC
On the 17th, President Yoo Namseok of the Constitutional Court of Korea traveled to Mongolia to attend the 5th Congress of the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (AACC) and the Meeting of the Board of Members. Under the theme of “Recent Developments of Constitutional Justice in Asia,” President Yoo interacts with presidents of constitutional adjudicatory bodies in different countries in Asia and review the agenda, including the admission of a new Member Institution and the amendments to the Association’s Statute in the Meeting of the Board of Members. In the 5th Congress, Justice Kim Kiyoung shares the experience of constitutional adjudication in the Republic of Korea with AACC members through a presentation on the topic of “The Constitutional Review in Challenging Times.” As Secretary General of the AACC Secretariat for Research and Development, Secretary General Park Jongmun of the Constitutional Court of Korea reports on the current work of the AACC Secretariat for Research and Development, run by the Constitutional Court of Korea, in the Board of Members prior to the Congress. The Constitutional Court of Korea hopes that this Congress will serve as an instrument to encourage further activities of the AACC, which is committed to promoting democracy, the rule of law, and human rights in Asia, and enhance the international standing of the Constitutional Court of Korea, which is taking the lead in doing such activities.
